Services: It covers an area of 5,123 hectares. It was declared a protected area by Presidential Decree 42-91 on November 4, 1991. The name Cerros de Yalí (Yalí Hills) derives from the presence of several neighboring peaks, including the Yalí Volcano (1,542 meters above sea level), Cuspire Mountain (1,539 meters above sea level), El Columpio or Zamaria (1,675 meters above sea level), Cerro Azul (1,701 meters above sea level), Laguna Verde (1,605 meters above sea level), and La Gloria (1,524 meters above sea level), which together form a compact massif immediately south and east of the town of Yalí. The road connecting the towns of Yalí and San Rafael del Norte runs through the narrow pass between the Yalí "volcano" and Cuspire Mountain. Activities permitted in this reserve include hiking, flora and fauna observation, photography, and mountain biking.
