Ticuantepe in Nahuatl language means "Hill of beasts", Ticune = tiger or beasts, Tepeh = hill.

According to archaeological studies, the first settlers who settled in this territory were indigenous people belonging to the Niquiranos ethnic group who settled in the Ticuantepe Valley.

Ticuantepe, a city with beautiful rural landscapes, with an exuberant flora and fauna, the green chocoyos of the Pacific stand out and it protects Quetlzalcoalt, our Feathered Serpent, among the greenery of its nature.

The municipality of Ticuantepe is located 18 kilometers from the city of Managua. It limits to the north with Managua, to the south with La Concepción, to the east with Nindirí and to the west with El Crucero.

The fundamental economic activity of the municipality is pineapple production.

This municipality has three entrances on the road to Masaya, the first is at kilometer 13, the main road to the south, at kilometer 14 always to the south, and the last at kilometer 19 to the east.

To get to Ticuantepe you must board a public transport unit at the bus terminal located in the Roberto Huembes Market or in front of the Casimiro Sotelo Montenegro National University, bound for Ticuantepe, or take the interlocal buses that go to La Concepción and San Marcos and that cross this municipality.

In a private vehicle you must take the road to Masaya and enter through any of the three options mentioned above.
