The Charco Verde ecological reserve, in addition to being rich in flora and fauna, is also very popular due to the legend of Long Boy, well known by the locals. Within this reserve there are three trails: La Ceiba, Bancón beach, and El Piscacho. Moisés David Ghitis Rivera, creator and founder, began at the age of 12 (1976) to collect banknotes, coins and archaeological pieces. When his parents farmed the land, agricultural implements unearthed archaeological pieces, so he decided to collect and protect the cultural heritage of Ometepe Island by sharing his collections with the public. He transformed his house into what are now the Numismatic and Pre-Columbian Museums, inaugurated on March 31, 2007. This initiative was supported by friends who have also donated pieces found in different parts of the island.

El Ceibo Museums became the only private pre-Hispanic museum on the island of Ometepe and one of the museums with the largest number of pieces (it has a collection of more than 1500 pre-Columbian pieces, which are on permanent display) and the most recognized in Nicaragua, it also has the Numismatic Museum which is the history of Nicaragua through its currency from cocoa to the current currency.
