The municipality of San Rafael del Sur is located 46 kilometers from the city of Managua. It limits to the north with Managua and Villa El Carmen, to the south with Diriamba and the Pacific Ocean, to the east with San Marcos and to the west with the Pacific Ocean.

If you want to visit the municipality, you must board a transport unit bound for Pochomil, from the Israel Lewites Market bus terminal, in the city of Managua; then take a taxi or caponier to go to the place of your preference within the municipality.
You can also travel by private vehicle, on the South Pan-American Highway, take the detour to the south of the El Crucero municipality, to the southeast there is a road that crosses the entire municipality and arrives directly.
Another access to San Rafael del Sur is through the Las Conchitas junction, diverting to the southwest on the main highway.
